The Bride
- Selects the type of service
- Chooses her gown, the Bridesmaids’ attire and the flowers and accessories
- Starts the dancing with the Groom
- Throws her bouquet among the unmarried female guests before departing
- Writes thank you letters for wedding presents received
The Bridegroom
- Selects the Best Man and Ushers
- Hires Morning Dress
- Arranges transport
- Buys the rings and pays the church or civil ceremony licence fee
- Buys thank you presents for the Bridesmaids, Best Man and Ushers
- Buys the flowers for his Bride, the Bride’s mother, his mother, Bridesmaid’s and button-holes
Best Man
- Organises the Stag Night
- Looks after the ring
- Gets the Bridegroom to the ceremony on time
- Checks arrangements to ensure that guests are transported from the church to the reception
- Toasts the reception, performs a speech on behalf of the Bridesmaids and reads out messages
- Announces the cutting of the cake
- Checks travel arrangements for the honeymoon are in order
Chief Bridesmaid
- Organises the Hen Night
- Assists the Bride to dress and organises the other Bridesmaids
- Holds the bouquet during the ceremony
Bride’s Father
- Gives the Bride away and receives the guests at the reception
- Traditionally covers most expenses
Bride’s Mother
- The Bride’s Mother is traditionally in charge of all the proceedings
- Organises the arrangements for the reception
- Plans a guest list with the Groom’s Mother
Ushers
- Distribute button-holes
- Control car parking
- ‘Meet and Greet’ guests and hand out Wedding Order of Service
- Make sure all guests have transport and directions to the reception
